Montenegro Cabinet's session
Podgorica, Montenegro (18 September 2015) -- At today's session, the Montenegrin Cabinet adopted the National climate change study by 2030. The document is planned to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases in the sectors of energy, industry and transport by 30% by 2030 compared to 1990, and its key effect is moving Montenegro towards a low-carbon economy, which EU has defined as one of its most important goals.
The government also adopted the information on the state of environment in Montenegro in 2014. Special attention in the document is paid to the data referring to the devastation and exceeding statutory limits, which form a basis for defining measures aimed at improving environmental situation.
The government decided to extend the public hearing on the Draft Law on Freedom of Religion until 30 September. Unwillingness of certain structures, the Government sees as a lack of democratic capacities and their attempt to defend their anti-systemic, monopolistic position. Being aware that many individuals had been waiting for a chance to express their view on the Draft Law, but they, unfortunately, had not be able to do that, the Government decided to will give them a chance for other form of participation in the public debate and contribution to the quality of the drafting the Law.
