Podgorica, Montenegro (18 September 2015) – Montenegro's Science Minister Sanja Vlahović and Minister of Education, Science and Technological Development of Serbia Srđan Verbić signed earlier today in Podgorica the Cooperation Programme between the two ministries in the field of science and technology.

The cooperation programme specifically emphasises work on joint bilateral projects, including exchange of research results and individual scientists for the purposes of conducting research, participating in joint scientific meetings and conferences, as well as exchanging scientific and technological information and documentation.

The planned two-year joint scientific research projects, in addition to exchange of knowledge and experience, will enable the scientific institutions of Montenegro and Serbia to participate in European programmes for science and research.

Agriculture and food, medicine and health, sustainable development, energy, information and communication technology, new materials, products and services, and cultural heritage, are priority areas where joint projects are to be carried out.

The meeting of the two ministers and signing of the cooperation programme took place on the eve of a regional ministerial conference in Split, where an agreement on the establishment of the Western Balkan Research and Innovation Centre (WISE) is to be signed.
