Civil Society House to be bulit in Podgorica

Podgorica, Montenegro (18 September 2015) -- Prime Minister of Montenegro Milo Đukanović, Mayor of Podgorica Slavoljub Stijepović, Chairman of the Rockefeller Brothers Fund Stephen B. Heintz and a representative of the Foundation Civil Society House signed earlier today a Memorandum of Understanding for the construction of a Civil Society House in Podgorica.

"Building of a Civil Society House is a valuable initiative and a strong impetus to further democratic development of Montenegro," said Prime Minister Milo Đukanović. 

He voiced satisfaction with a long and successful cooperation between the Government and the Rockefeller Brothers Fund, and thanked the foundation for the support for the activities aimed at boosting partnerships with civil society and awareness of sustainable development in Montenegro.

Chairman of the the Foundation Stephen B. Heintz underscored that the project came as a result of many years of trust between the Government and the Foundation, and represents an important step for further democratic development of Montenegro. He also congratulated PM Đukanović on the extraordinary progress Montenegro has made since the restoration of independence.

It was agreed that the Government and the Foundation could cooperate in many fields in the coming period, especially in education, which is a key precondition for further social and economic development of Montenegro.

During a working lunch, the dynamic path of Montenegro towards membership in NATO and the EU was discussed, as well as overall progress in the region in the light of initiatives such as the Berlin process, which give a strong impetus to the continuation of the integration processes.
