Pentagon: Full support for the invitation to Montenegro for NATO membership on December`s meeting of the NATO ministers of foreign affairs

On behalf of the leadership of Pentagon, US Deputy Asisstant Secretary of Defense dr. Evelyn Farkas, congratulated to Minister of Defense of Montenegro dr. Milica Pejanovic- Djurisic, on October 7th, Montenegro Armed Forces Day.

During the phone call Ms. Farkas conveyed congratulations and full support of Secretary Carter for the invitation to NATO membership on December`s meeting of the NATO ministers of foreign affairs. The continuous reforms and missions conducted by the Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces of Montenegro demonstrated professionalism, reliability and responsibility that contributed to the full support from Washington and to the assessment that Montenegro is ready for membership. The message from Pentagon is that Montenegro is an example how to contribute to the stability of the region. They emphasized Montenegro`s contribution to the Mission in Afghanistan.

In conclusion, Ms. Farkas said that through the future membership in NATO, the country will become even more secure, which is a basic for economic prosperity and development of Montenegro, and a better life of its citizens.
