Minister Ivanović in Brussels: Montenegro meets all requirements for opening agriculture-related chapters

Brussels, Belgium (7 October 2015) -- Montenegro has met all the requirements for the opening of the three agriculture-related negotiating chapters, Agriculture Minister Petar Ivanović said at the meeting with members of the Working Group on Enlargement of the Council of the EU and representatives of the European Commission's Directorate for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Safety in Brussels.

Minister Ivanović presented on that occasion the concrete economic indicators on the increase in livestock, productivity and employment in the agriculture sector in Montenegro.

"It is particularly significant there has been an increase in the number of persons engaged in the agricultural production. According to the Statistical Office of Montenegro (MONSTAT) data based on the survey on labour force, the number of employees in the second quarter of 2015 increased by 48.3% compared to the same period last year, the Montenegrin Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development concluded.
