DPM Marković in Rome: Italy’s Senate supports Montenegro’s EU, NATO accession

Rome, Italy (22 October 2015) – Deputy Prime Minister Duško Marković paid an official visit to Italy, where he met with the delegation of the Italian Senate chaired by senators Aldo di Biagio and Stefano Collina.
The meeting emphasised that the two countries share a fruitful parliamentary cooperation, as well as good and extensive political and economic relations.
The officials agreed that Italy strongly supports Montenegro’s EU and NATO membership, stressing there should be no delays in these two processes.
DPM Marković thanked the officials for the Italian continuing support towards achieving these important foreign policy goals, particularly when it comes to strengthening legislative and judicial framework for the fight against corruption and organised crime.
Regarding the negotiations between the Government and the Italian-based A2A electric power company, the officials welcomed the successful completion of this process which resulted in a new agreement on strategic partnership and terms and conditions of the cooperation between A2A and Electric Power Industry of Montenegro (EPCG).
