DPM Lazović discusses Montenegro's economic priorities with IMF representatives
Podgorica, Montenegro (27 October 2015) -- Deputy Prime Minister Vujica Lazović met earlier today with members of the IMF delegation headed by Alsadair Scott, the mission's chief for Montenegro.
DPM Lazović informed the IMF's delegation about Montenegro's strategic economic policy priorities, based on infrastructure development, reduced level of public spending and structural reforms. Montenegro cannot except strengthening competitiveness, creating new jobs and economic growth without implementing these reforms, he added.
"Montenegro is committed to attaining these goals which requires allocations from the capital budget and changes in regulatory framework in order to boost economic productivity and fiscal sustainability based on economic growth," DPM Lazović highlighted, adding that Montenegro is aware of the risks in conducting this policy, but that doing nothing would be the greatest risk.
IMF Mission to Montenegro is engaged in preparing Article IV, which will present Montenegro from the ascpect of economic development and growth in mid-term period.
