PM Đukanović meets with his Azerbaijani counterpart Artur Rasizade in Baku

Baku, Azerbaijan (27 October 2015) -- During his official visit to Azerbaijan, Prime Minister Milo Đukanović met with his Azerbaijani counterpart Artur Rasizade.

PM Đukanović thanked Mr Rasizade for the friendly welcome and Azerbaijan's affection to Montenegro reflected through strengthening partnership between the two countries, as well as through humanitarian dimension of the Azerbaijani support for the implementation of Montenegro's major development projects.

"Political ties are preconditions for strengthening relations and boosting new cooperation mechanisms," PM Đukanović highlighted. He also informed PM Rasizade about the current economic and overall situation in the country, as well as the results of Montenegro's EU and NATO bid.

The two officials particularly discussed mechanisms and measures for the implementation of projects in energy, tourism, infrastructure, banking sector and food production, emphasising the need to implement projects such as Portonovi luxury tourist resort project.

Prime Minister Rasizade voiced belief that the two countries will improve economic cooperation, putting special emphasis on boosting contractual basis.

The meeting also discussed the need to modernise Montenegro's airports and infrastructure through investment and loan arrangements, referring in particular to improving connectedness between Montenegro and Azerbaijan through the Southern Gas Corridor and further process of gasification of the country in cooperation with the Azerbaijani SOCAR company.
