DPM Marković, Hungary’s Zsolt Németh: Montenegro makes visible progress in meeting requirements crucial for getting NATO invitation

Podgorica, Montenegro (6 November 2015) – Deputy Prime Minister Duško Marković met earlier today with Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee of Hungarian Parliament, Zsolt Németh, for talks on Montenegro’s Euro-Atlantic accession process.

The results achieved within four key areas demonstrate Montenegro’s readiness to get NATO invitation, the meeting emphasised. 

DPM Marković thanked Mr Németh for Hungary’s continuing political and expertise support in pursuing Euro-Atlantic agenda, particularly when it comes to the Government’s efforts in achieving foreign policy priorities. Montenegro’s membership in NATO represents not only engagement in the international Alliance, but also adoption of Western values, he added.

“It is the Government’s principle idea when it comes to the overall integration process and we believe that the by its strong commitment managed to achieve significant results in key areas,” DPM Marković stressed.

Mr Németh commended Montenegro’s visible results in implementing reforms within integration process, demonstrating its readiness to become NATO member state. Hungary will continue supporting Montenegro’s path towards NATO, Mr Németh underlined, adding that joining NATO is important for both the country and the Alliance.

The meeting also discussed current political situation in Montenegro and further activities regarding its foreign policy goals.
