Podgorica, Montenegro (18 November 2015) – Deputy Prime Minister Duško Marković hosted yesterday newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Norway Arne Sannes Bjørnstad.

DPM Marković welcomed Mr Bjørnstad wishing him a successful term of office, stressing the importance of boosting bilateral and overall relations between the countries during his mandate. He also informed Ambassador Bjørnstad about the results in reforms related to the European and Euro-Atlantic accession processes, highlighting the role of Norway in supporting Montenegro in pursuing these important foreign policy goals. Norway’s financial and expertise support in building institutional and legislative capacities for establishing the rule of law and judiciary reform process is very important for Montenegro, DPM Marković emphasised.

The Government of Montenegro is willing to continue strengthening its cooperation with Norway, particularly when it comes to the implementation of the EU legislation as one of Montenegro’s top priorities, DPM Marković underscored.

Ambassador Bjørnstad stressed that Norway carefully follows the developments in Montenegro and supports its progress in the Euro-Atlantic accession process. The two countries cherish traditionally good economic cooperation and there is enough space for strengthening dialogue and collaboration in many other areas as well, Ambassador Bjørnstad pointed out.
