Montenegro's government officials meets with heads of several Chinese companies in Suzhou

Suzhou, China (24 November 2015) – On the sidelines of the 4th Summit of Heads of Government of China and Central and Eastern Europe Countries, taking place in Suzhou, China, on 24-25 November, Montenegro's Deputy Prime Minister Vujica Lazović, and Minister of Transport and Maritime Affairs Ivan Brajović and Tourism and Sustainable Development Minister Branimir Gvozdenović, met with representatives of the CRBC company, with which the Government of Montenegro has singed a commercial contract for the design and construction of the first section of the Bar-Boljare highway.

Chairman of the CRBC Wen Gang thanked the Government of Montenegro, in particular the Ministry of Transport and Maritime Affairs, for their support and assistance in implementing the very demanding project.

DPM Lazović noted this is the most important project in the history of Montenegro and that all the capacities of the Montenegrin administration are aimed at supporting it. Both sides agreed that provided the highway project’s implementation complies with the set deadlines and dynamics, it will form the basis for further cooperation.

The CRBC company voiced interest in implementing other projects in Montenegro as well, such as the development of the Port of Bar, construction of the “Verige” bridge and an industrial park, as well as the detours around Budva, while the Montenegrin delegation, in addition to the aforementioned projects, emphasised tourism, utility infrastructure and the construction of the second section of the highway as potential areas for cooperation.

DPM President Lazović and Minister Gvozdenović also spoke with representatives of Huawei Technologies, one of the leading Chinese companies in the field of high technologies.

General Manager of Huawei Balkans Wei Venjuan and Regional Director Cui Fenghua highlighted the importance of cooperation with Montenegro and presented plans to improve cooperation. DPM Lazović said that Montenegro is interested in the strategic partnership with Huawei and stressed there is scope for cooperation in numerous projects, especially in the projects that are production-oriented and implemented in partnership with the Government. It was also pointed out there are important projects in the field of information technology which can be advanced in the future.

The Huawei’s representatives presented the scholarships donation for ten Montenegrin students, and Deputy Prime Minister Lazović pointed out this can mark the beginning of more-quality cooperation with Huawei Technologies.

The Deputy Prime Minister met in Suzhou with heads of Nuctech Company Limited, the leading global supplier of security inspection systems. At a meeting with Nuctech Deputy Chairman Miao Qitian and General Manager Qiyuan Fu, the company was agreed to sponsor the training programme for use of the donated scanners for employees of the Customs Administration of Montenegro and to propose mechanisms for boosting the existing control system in order to make it centralised. The new system would involve simultaneous dual control - on the border and in the main control centre.
