Podgorica, Montenegro (17 February 2016) -- Prime Minister Milo Đukanović hosted earlier today Head of the OSCE Mission to Montenegro, Ambassador Janina Hrebickova.

The Prime Minister noted that Montenegro and the OSCE have developed meaningful and fruitful cooperation, which resulted in reaching systematic solutions for creating favourable conditions for dynamic economic and democratic development of the Montenegrin society. Prime Minister Đukanović and Ambassador Hrebickova concluded that the first ten years of Montenegro's independence and the establishment of the Mission in Podgorica is an opportunity to review and analyse the excellent results achieved in the previous period.

Ambassador Hrebickova thanked the Government and the state institutions for successful cooperation and voiced the Mission’s willingness to make a contribution to further reform processes in Montenegro and to the strengthening of institutional capacity aimed at faster and better implementation of the election legislation, and the creation of conditions for fair and democratic elections that will be held later this year. It was agreed that the OSCE's expert and technical assistance to the State Election Commission is an important contribution in that regard.

The Prime Minister confirmed that Montenegro will invite the OSCE / ODIHR Election Observation Mission to monitor the upcoming parliamentary elections in the country.

It was also announced that the OSCE Mission will mark this year the tenth anniversary of its work in Montenegro.
