Samardžić - Breedlove: Significant contribution of NATO in the process of reforms and transformation of the Armed Forces
Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Montenegro,
Admiral Dragan Samardžić met today
with the Supreme Allied Commander Europe, General Philip Breedlove who is in the official visit in Montenegro.
During the meeting it is discussed the process of accession and
integration of the defense system of Montenegro into NATO, the support of the Alliance
on that path. Admiral Samardzić expressed his gratitude on the constant support
of NATO in the process of the reforms and transformation of the Armed Forces of
Montenegro and presented the most significant achievements in the field of
strategic defense documents, capabilities development, modernization and the
restructuring of the Armed Forces. The Chief of the General Staff has specially
emphasized the significance of the participation of the Armed Forces in the
international peacekeeping operations and the benefits who have contributed
significantly to improve the planning and realization of training and
exercises, and speed up the process of equipping, standardization and
modernization.
General Breedlove thanked Montenegro on continuous support and
contribution to NATO operation in Afghanistan and emphasized the importance of
pooling the resources and joint planning and conducting the operations in
response to contemporary security challenges which are very complex. He
assessed that the Armed Forces of Montenegro have made a remarkable progress in
developing the interoperability and capabilities and that is recognized as
reliable partner in the international peacekeeping operations. General
Breedlove expressed NATO's readiness and the readiness of the relevant commands
to continue to support Montenegro in the process of accession and integration
into the Alliance.
