Over 100 housing units for most vulnerable families in refugee camp Konik to be built within Regional Housing Programme
Minister of Labour and Social Welfare Zorica Kovačević, Head of the EU Delegation to Montenegro Mitja Drobnič, and Mayor of Podgorica Slavoljub Stijepović laid today the foundation stone for construction of 120 housing units for the most vulnerable families in refugee camp Konik within the Regional Housing Programme.
The construction value of 120 housing units amounts to EUR 3,923,551.48, of which the grants amount to EUR 6,226,622.00. The deadline for completion of the construction is 17 July 2017.
In the past twenty years, more than 1,500 housing solutions have been provided for refugees and internally displaced persons, through the number of projects funded by the Government of Montenegro, NGOs, international partners and donors.
Deputy Prime Minister Vujica Lazović, US Ambassador to Montenegro Margaret Ann Uyehara, German Ambassador to Montenegro Gudrun Elisabeth Steinacker, UNHCR representative Mustafa Server Caylan, and Deputy Head of the OSCE Mission to Montenegro Dan Redford also spoke at the ceremony.
