Ministers Ivanović and Vlahović speak in Washington with World Bank’s Executive Director Frank Heemskerk

On the last day of their stay in Washington, Minister of Agriculture Petar Ivanović and Minister of Science Sanja Vlahović met with Frank Heemskerk, Executive Director of the Dutch constituency at the World Bank. In a long, cordial conversation Ministers Vlahović and Ivanović presented the results of projects in Montenegro realised in cooperation with this international financial institution and discussed their continuation.

Ministers Ivanović and Vlahović paid visit to Washington at the invitation of the World Bank, where they participated in the Third High-level Meeting on Country-led knowledge Sharing, one of the most important meetings this year organised by the World Bank. Montenegrin ministers spoke about the experience of Montenegro on separate panels devoted to the exchange of experiences in the areas of agriculture and science.

"It is a great honour to represent Montenegro in the World Bank's Board of Directors. We established strong partnership and I'm proud that I had the opportunity to meet with the two ministers from the Government of Montenegro, Minister of Agriculture Petar Ivanović and Minister of Science Sanja Vlahović. The projects on which they work are best practices that can be shared with other countries. We talked about more opportunities in agriculture, business and innovation in order to further intensify the cooperation between Montenegro and the World Bank," Frank Heemskers said after the meeting.

Minister Ivanović presented data on the effects of implementation of MIDAS programme relating to increasing employment, sustainable growth in the agricultural sector and poverty reduction in rural areas. Minister Vlahović presented the activities carried out in the field of higher education, science and innovation, within HERIC project, which is financed by the World Bank with EUR 12 million.
