Admiral Samardžić with Brigadier General Farnem: the support of the National Guard of the state of Maine in the process of transformation of the Armed Forces of Montenegro

Chief of the General Staff, Admiral Dragan Samardžić, met today with the Commander of the Maine National Guard, Brigadier General Douglas A. Farnham, who is in the official visit in Montenegro.

During the meeting, Admiral Samardzic presented to the American colleague the position of Montenegro in the process of accession and integration of the defense system of Montenegro into NATO. Admiral Samardžić expressed gratitude on constant support of the Maine National Guard in the process of transformation and reforms of the Armed Forces, thus presented to the Brigadier General Farnham the most significant achievements in the field of strategic defense documents, development of capabilities, modernization and restructuring of the Armed Forces.

Montenegro has strategic partnership relation with the state of Maine since 2007 which is presented through State Partnership Program (SPP).

 Cooperation with Maine National Guard is flowing on several areas: providing support and assistance to the Montenegrin Armed Forces on implementation of Partnership Goals, improving the readiness of the AFMNE for participation in international missions as well as improving the capabilities for responding on emergency situations.

Brigadier General Farnham expressed the satisfaction with the cooperation with the Armed Forces of Montenegro until now and emphasized the importance of realization of common activities in the frame of SPP program for further strengthening of partnership. He said that the Armed Forces of Montenegro have made exceptional progression in developing the interoperability and capabilities and expressed the readiness of the Maine National Guard to support the continuation of the reform process of Armed Forces of Montenegro.

During the visit to the Armed Forces of Montenegro, General Farnham will visit the barracks „Milovan Šaranović“in Danilovgrad, as well as the Air Force and the Navy of the Armed Forces of Montenegro.
