Session of National Security Council

Podgorica, Montenegro (13 April 2016) -- The National Security Council, chaired by Prime Minister Milo Đukanović, held its 7th session earlier today.

The session discussed and approved the Draft national priorities in the fight against serious and organised crime for the period 2016 – 2017, as well as the Draft national Intelligence mechanisms for prioritisation, management and allocation of tasks in tackling serious and organised crime.

The Council also analysed the current security situation in the context of the recent terrorist attacks in the region and the possibility of new terrorist threats to the national security.

It was concluded that terrorism is a serious threat to international peace and security, adding that the security situation in Montenegro is stable, at the same time advising the relevant authorities to take effective measures and activities falling under their competence in order to preserve national security.

The Council also stressed the necessity of inter-institutional, regional and international cooperation, particularly when ot comes to endangering security by potential terrorist threats.
