Culture Minister Goranović signs framework agreement on TRADUKI project in Vienna

Vienna, Austria (22 April 2016) -- Minister of Culture of Montenegro Pavle Goranović signed earlier today a framework agreement on TRADUKI project to support and mediate in translation projects in South Eastern Europe. The agreement was signed din a meeting of the Board of Directors of TRADUKI network, sponsored by the Austrian Federal Office and Austrian Federal Ministry for Europe, Integration and Foreign Affairs. By signing this agreement, Montenegro became a full member of the TRADUKI network.

Minister Goranović pointed out that the mission of the TRADUKI network is actually a diplomatic and intellectual strategy that promotes the principle of unity in diversity and in European literary space.

"The power of the written word, thanks to this network, imposes itself as a basis for the positive interaction of diverse, yet similar cultural communities. Montenegro also recognises the need for promoting universal values, as well as special identity and specificity," said Minister Goranović.

He added that the Ministry of Culture of Montenegro recognises regional and international cooperation as its priority, defined by strategic and normative documents in the field of culture.

The TRADUKI network enables Montenegrin writers and interpreters to access the annual fund of EUR 620,000, and their participation in other countries's programmes, as well as taking part in international literary events.

In addition to the visibility of the Montenegrin literature and promotion of local authors on the international market, the inclusion of Montenegro in TRADUKI network is a political act, confirming Montenegro's commitment to strengthening cooperation in the region and beyond, as well as dialogue and cultural cooperation as a catalyst for political, economic and social reforms.
