PM Đukanović pays official visit to Malta
Podgorica, Montenegro (18 May 2016) - Prime Minister Milo Đukanovic paid today an official return visit to Valletta. The Prime Minister expressed his satisfaction with the development of overall relations between the two countries, which, among other things, confirm mutual visits of Prime Ministers of the two countries, in the year in which Montenegro marks ten years since the restoration of independence.
Mr Đukanović particularly emphasised the importance of further strengthening of economic relations and in this regard expressed hope that the cooperation established with "Enemalta" on building wind farms at Možura and its successful implementation will be an additional incentive for boosting and diversifying bilateral relations, stressing the potential for cooperation in the field of agriculture, tourism, science and health.
Prime Minister Đukanović also stressed the interest of the Government of Montenegro to share experiences with Malta in the field of European integration, particularly on the eve of Malta's presidency of the European Council next year, stating that the platform of friendship could be strengthened with cooperation in priority areas.
Maltese Prime Minister Joseph Muscat said that there is a good synergy between Montenegro and Malta, as evidenced by Možura project, which is the first Maltese foreign investment in Europe. He expressed confidence that this project initiated important and positive step in the development of bilateral relations. Prime Minister Muscat said that Malta strongly supports the accession negotiations and Montenegro's membership in the EU and expressed full readiness to provide the necessary support and assistance in this area.
The two officials welcomed the signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation between the two Ministries of health, as an important step towards defining concrete forms of cooperation in the fields of education and health services.
It is also agreed to organise visit of the business delegation of Malta to Montenegro this year.
Minister of Health Prof. Dr Budimir Šegrt signed Memorandum on cooperation in the field of health and medical research with his Maltese counterpart Chris Fearne.
