PM Đukanović hosts group of prominent world scientists

Podgorica, Montenegro (20 May 2016) – Prime Minister Milo Đukanović hosted today a group of prominent world scientists, alongside the President of Montenegrin Academy of Sciences and Arts (CANU) Momir Đurović, who participate in the International Conference on the development and impact of technology on society and the future. Among them were the President of the International Council for Science Professor Gordon McBean, President of the World Academy of Art and Science Professor Heitor Gurgulino de Souza, longtime President of the UN Climate Change Council and Nobel Prize winner Professor R.K. Pachauri, Director of Geneva-based Green Cross Professor Alexander Likotal and member of the Croatian Academy of Arts and Sciences and former President of the World Academy Ivo Šlaus. The conference was organised by the Montenegrin Academy of Sciences and Arts on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the restoration of Montenegro's independence, and sponsored by the Government of Montenegro.

The Prime Minister expressed his satisfaction that such a representative scientific conference, focused on the challenges that bring the development of new technologies, is organized in Montenegro. He informed guests of the main achievements of Montenegro's modern development, as well as of future plans that are primarily reliant on new knowledge and education reform. The common conclusion is that the most cost-effective investment is in people, culture, science and education. The distinguished guests expressed their readiness to support Montenegro's plans for the future, noting that a prosperous country like Montenegro can be a leader of change, especially in the field of sustainable development, which are necessary in the world today. They expressed special recognition and appreciation to the Montenegrin Academy of Sciences and Arts for a successful long-term cooperation.
