Pejanović Đurišić on „To Be Secure“Forum: Excellent cooperation of the partnership countries and international organizations

During the "To Be Secure" Forum, Minister of Defense prof. Milica Pejanovic Djurisic PhD had a series of bilateral meetings with officials from partner countries and international organizations.

Pejanović Đurišić met with the Deputy Secretary General of NATO, Alexander Vershbow. On this occasion are highlighted the results achieved by implementing the reforms in the Montenegrin defense system, as well as in other key areas of importance for future membership in NATO. Vershbow expressed belief that the ratification process in the member states, after the signature of the Accession Protocol, will be implemented as soon as possible. Minister Pejanović Đurišić said that by membership in NATO Montenegro primarily will continue to promote the values underlying the NATO Alliance and with devotion will work on further reforms and modernization of the Montenegrin defense system in accordance with the standards of collective security.

In addition, Minister Pejanovic Djurisic had a bilateral meeting with Vice President of the Committee for Defense and Security of the Parliament of FR of Germany and members of the Parliamentary Assembly of NATO, Dr. Karl Lamers. Interlocutors emphasized that the cooperation between Montenegro and Germany in the field of defense is very meaningful and qualitative and expressed their willingness and expectation that it will be intensified in the future. They emphasized the importance of joint projects carried out by the two ministries, as well as support of FR of Germany in defense reform. Bearing in mind the upcoming activities arising from the integration agenda, dr. Lamers stressed that he expects that Germany and other partner countries pay special attention to the importance of speeding up the ratification procedure of the Accession Protocol of Montenegro to NATO.

Minister Pejanović Đurišić met with the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Macedonia, Dr. Zoran Jolevski. On that occasion, the interlocutors expressed satisfaction with the bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the field of defense, particularly emphasizing education of Montenegrin cadets at the Military Academy "General Mihailo Apostolic" in Skopje, and the intensification of cooperation in the field of training of Macedonian pilots in the Air Force of the MNEAF.
