Montenegro as leader in Euro-Atlantic integration in the region contributes to regional and global security
Montenegrin delegation, consisting of the Secretary of the National Security Council Veselin Veljović and head of NCB Interpol Podgorica at Police Directorate Dejan Đurović, took part at the seventh international meeting of high representatives in charge of security issues, held in Grozny in the southern Russian republic of Chechnya.
Meeting on global security was opened by President of the Chechen Republic Ramzan Kadyrov, and Secretary of the Russian Federation Security Council Nikolai Patrushev. Representatives of the delegations from 80 countries discussed a number of issues in the field of international security and in particular those related to the risks, challenges and threats of radicalism and terrorism, as well as global threats to peace and stability.
It is noted that Montenegro, as a leader in the Euro-Atlantic integration in the Western Balkans with a stable security situation, through national and international activities contributes to regional and global security.
Secretary of the National Security Council Veselin Veljović had bilateral meetings with foreign officials in charge of security issues, which was an opportunity to exchange experiences in the field of security issues, in the interests of regional security and on a broader level.
During the meeting of the Montenegrin delegation and delegation of the Russian Federation Security Council, Veljović and Patrushev noted that the current cooperation of security agencies of the two countries was comprehensive and of a high quality, and that it will intensify in the coming period, especially in the area of the fight against terrorism as threat, and in the area of detecting and combating organised crime. Meeting of the Montenegrin and Afghanistan delegation was also an opportunity to exchange experiences in the field of the fight against international drug trafficking, not only to discuss the challenges to global security.
The current processes of migration as a challenge for regional and international security and other important issues related to security were discussed during the meeting. Alongside delegations from 80 countries, representatives of the United Nations also attended international meeting in Grozny.
