Buenos Aires, Argentina (8 May 2016) – Prime Minister Milo Đukanović finished off his several-day visit to Argentina participating in the ceremony of naming one square "Montenegro" in the center of Palermo municipality, the elite part of Buenos Aires. The Prime Minister revealed the plaque with the inscription of Montenegro, alongside senior representatives of federal, city and municipal authorities as well as the Ambassador of Montenegro to Argentina Gordan Stojović and honoured Consul Juan Carlos Laković. Representatives of the Montenegrin community in Latin America also attended the ceremony.

The Prime Minister spoke yesterday with the President of the Argentine Council for International Relations (CARI) Adalberto Rodriguez Giavarini and gave a lecture on the topic "Regional cooperation in the former Yugoslavia and the European perspective of the Western Balkans" at the headquarters of this prestigious institution.

After a brief reminder of the nineties PM Đukanović talked about current processes in the region through an example of Montenegro's progress in the European and Euro-Atlantic integration, and the economic and democratic development.

"We had a clear vision ten years ago. Today, Montenegro is at the door of NATO, in the final stage of the full membership formalisation, and with 22 opened chapters with the European Union, and excellent relations with all its neighbours," Prime Minister Milo Đukanović noted.

PM Đukanović pointed out that Western Balkan countries have no better solution than integration into the EU and NATO, and expressed optimism that the whole region will be an integral part of united Europe. In this context, he expressed the hope that the Berlin Process will be of great economic benefit to better interconnection and connection with Europe, as part of a new EU strategy towards the Western Balkans.

President Giavarini spoke with great respect about Montenegro and the Prime Minister's role in its modern development, assessing that the changes in Montenegro at national and international level will have favorable influence on the development of bilateral relations between Montenegro and Argentina. In particular, Giavarini emphasised the importance of contacts across the Montenegrin Diaspora, to which he is personally linked since childhood.

At the end Mr Giavarini presented Prime Minister Đukanović with the charter of honoured member of the Argentine Council for International Relations.
