Podgorica, Montenegro (29 June 2016) – Prime Minister Milo Đukanović welcomed initiation of the ratification process of the Protocol on the Accession of Montenegro to NATO in the United States and assessed it as great news.

"This is great news for Montenegro. I consider the fact that the greatest ally has started the procedure that opens ratification process of the Protocol in the Senate to be very significant. This is yet another indication of Washington's strong support to the imminent membership of Montenegro in NATO, and recognition of the reforms we are carrying out. I believe that the procedure in the Senate will be done as soon as possible. This is also an incentive for other allies to finish ratification process swiftly. At the same time, it is also encouragement to our neighbors and aspiring countries that Alliance's door remains open. The United States hereby sent another message of support to Montenegro just before the Summit in Warsaw where we will participate as invitee for the first time," the Prime Minister said.
