DPM Ivanović hosts delegation of Confindustria: Italian investors cherish security and predictability of Montenegrin business environment

Podgorica, Montenegro (5 July 2016) – Deputy Prime Minister Petar Ivanović hosted today delegation of the largest Italian business association Confindustria. During the conversation, which was attended by Italian Ambassador Vincenzo Del Monaco, officials discussed concrete possibilities of cooperation. The members of Confindustria expressed significant interest in investing in Montenegro.

The representatives of Confindustria, the association which brings together more than 2,000 local associations with 170,000 companies employing 5,000,000 workers, said that the goal of establishing representative office in Montenegro is to become better acquainted with the investment climate and the areas in which Italian companies could invest in accordance with the economic development policy of the Government of Montenegro, as well as the establishment of closer ties with Montenegrin companies for possible joint release on third markets.

Confindustria's representatives expressed willingness, through the office in Montenegro, to realise the close partnership with the Government regarding concretisation of future projects in Montenegro. They are interested in the energy sector, light industry and food processing, and stressed that Italian investors especially cherish security and predictability of the business environment in Montenegro.

DPM Ivanović thanked the Italian Ambassador Vincenzo Del Monaco for his contribution in strengthening cooperation between the two countries, as well as representatives of Confindustria for interest to cooperate with Montenegro in the economic field, which confirms that Montenegro is recognised as good investment destination.

The Deputy Prime Minister presented Government's activities to improve competitiveness in Montenegro, attracting investors to the sectors that have been identified as potential agents of country's accelerated development. DPM Ivanović presented the potentials in the field of energy, tourism, agriculture and wood industry, and commented on the current and future infrastructure projects whose implementation should enable the planned economic development.

Representatives of the Italian business association are familiar with the achievements of Montenegro in strengthening the standards of its European integration process. DPM Ivanović said that Montenegro's commitment to European and Euro-Atlantic path represents political stability which is a prerequisite for the realisation of investment projects and accelerated development. He suggested representatives of Confindustria to consider the possibility of further improving the level of competitiveness of the Montenegrin economy.
