PM Đukanović speaks with Chancellor Merkel in Warsaw: Montenegro underlines importance of Berlin Process
Warsaw, Poland (8 July 2016) -- Prime Minister Milo Đukanović met earlier today on the sidelines of NATO Summit in Warsaw with German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
Chancellor Merkel congratulated Montenegro on its participation at the Summit in a new role, adding that the Bundestag will ratify the Accession Protocol according to the prescribed procedure. She voiced particular interest in Montenegro’s progress in the negotiations with the European Union and how Germany can provide assistance to the country's efforts.
The Prime Minister thanked Germany and Chancellor Merkel personally for their continued help and support for Montenegro in the process of European and Euro-Atlantic integration.
"Germany’s experience in the field of dual education and attracting investors is particularly significant for our country," said Prime Minister Đukanović.
He also underlined that Montenegro has developed relations with Baden-Wuerttemberg and Chancellor Merkel welcomed further strengthening of direct contacts with the German provinces.
In the context of attracting German investors, the two officials highlighted the importance of strengthening the rule of law. The Prime Minister said that special attention is paid to the reform pace and that focus has been placed on the balance of results.
The Prime Minister of Montenegro especially underscored the importance of the Berlin Process, which has brought a new quality of EU policy for the Western Balkans, and conveyed special gratitude to Chancellor Merkel.
