Foreign officials congratulate Prime Minister of Montenegro on Statehood Day
Podgorica, Montenegro (14 July 2016) -- Prime Minister Milo Đukanović received letters of congratulations on the occasion of Montenegro’s Statehood Day from numerous foreign officials, including President of the State Council of China Li Keqiang, prime ministers of the Czech Republic, India, Indonesia, Macedonia, Romania and Estonia, Bohuslav Sobotka, Narendra Modi, Jocko Vidodo, Emil Dimitriev, Dacian Ciolos and Tavi Roivas, as well as Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of Slovakia Miroslav Lajčak.
Referring to the results of the last year's Summit of China and Central and Eastern European countries, and a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Đukanović held on the sidelines of the summit, President of the State Council of China Li Keqiang says that on that occasion a broad consensus on relations between Montenegro and China, 16+1 cooperation framework and other issues of common interest was reached.
"I would like to work with you to try to promote practical cooperation between China and Montenegro in order to achieve even greater results," Prime Minister Keqiang said in his congratulatory message.
Indian Prime Minister Narandra Modi extended congratulations to the Prime Minister personally and friendly people of Montenegro by emphasising that the two countries enjoy warm and friendly relations, voicing willingness to expand and strengthen bilateral cooperation.
Prime Minister of Indonesia Jocko Vidodo wished Prime Minister and people of Montenegro happiness and prosperity, expressing expectations of a more tightened bond of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
Macedonian Prime Minister Emil Dimitriev extended his most sincere congratulations, wishing prosperity and wellbeing to the citizens of Montenegro. He voiced satisfaction with the traditionally friendly relations between the two countries, which are characteried by mutual respect and cooperation in the bilateral, regional and multilateral area.
"I am convinced that our two countries will continue to work towards intensification of economic cooperation and further development in the interest of the citizens of the two countries," his letter of congratulations reads.
Prime Minister of Romania Dacian Ciolos congratulates Montenegro on having singed the Protocol on the Accession to NATO.
"We are confident that the process of ratification in national parliaments of allied states will be completed very soon. Romania is a strong supporter of the process of accession of your country to the European Union and we hope that the new negotiating chapters will be opened soon. I confirm once again our willingness to provide technical and political support, in any form, during the negotiation process. Through all the efforts that have been invested in its Euro-Atlantic and European bids, Montenegro confirmed that it stands out as a positive model for the development of the entire region," Prime Minister of Romania Dacian Coloso stresses.
Estonian Prime Minister Tavi Roivas expressed the confidence that that the cordial relations and fruitful cooperation between Montenegro and Estonia will further strengthen for the benefit of both nations.
Foreign and European Affairs Minister of Slovakia Miroslav Lajčák also extended congratulations on the occasion of Montenegro’s Statehood Day by underlining that he appreciates the progress Montenegro has made since the restoration of independence in 2006 in pursuing reforms, as well as the results achieved in meeting criteria for membership in the EU and NATO.
"I am pleased that Montenegro has demonstrated its vitality and successfully established itself in the international arena. Montenegro has proved to have a promising place in the Euro-Atlantic family of shared values, and develop friendly relations with neighbours is the Western Balkan, thus contributing to the stability of the entire region. I am convinced that the reform process in Montenegro, as well as your results in all important areas, will be awarded within the framework of the accession negotiations with the European Union, and soon the full membership in NATO," said FM Lajčak and reiterated that" Montenegro can count on the comprehensive support by the Slovak Republic in attaining its strategic foreign policy goals.
