Podgorica, Montenegro (19 July 2016) -- Deputy Prime Minister Azra Jasavić hosted earlier today newly appointed Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Montenegro.

DPM Jasavić thanked the Azerbaijani diplomatic mission to Podgorica for its contribution to the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, their continuous deepening and advancement. Montenegro highly appreciates the decision of the Government of Azerbaijan to invest in Montenegro, and as a result today we have the Portonovi project, the largest "Green Field" investment in Montenegro. She also said that the implementation of the gas pipeline project that will pass through Montenegro will have positive economic effects.

The Azerbaijani Ambassador thanked Montenegro's institutions and Government for trust and open doors and promised that he would personally contribute to boosting relations between the two countries. In addition to the investment projects, the Government of Azerbaijan has helped the implementation of two very important corporate social responsibility projects, namely the reconstruction of the "Park of Friendship" and the construction of kindergartens in Bijelo Polje. Both projects are valuable donations from the people of Azerbaijan.

"Azmont company has developed good relations with the community through a certain form of donations. It also cooperates with the University of Donja Gorica and Vatel Hospitality Management Group to educate staff for the Portonovi project, which will result in new jobs creation. I also wish to inform you that we have opened the Azmont Bank in Montenegro, which has 19 employees, of which 18 are nationals of Montenegro. We believe that in this way we contribute to the economic development of Montenegro and we will continue our efforts in that regard," he explained.

Deputy Prime Minister Jasavić expressed appreciation for this type of support, hopeful that the relations will further deepen at all levels, such as cooperation between local governments and in culture.

The Government of Montenegro strongly supports the implementation of the Portonovi project, DPM Jasavić underscored.

"We are aware that this project will additionally position Montenegro on the map of prestigious tourist destinations. We are also aware that the "One & Only" hotels will be the only hotels of that type in Europe, which contributes to the unity of the destination," she noted.

DPM Jasavić announced a working visit to the project in order to hear directly from investors their impressions and suggestions for promoting this project.
