PM Đukanović congratulates UK counterpart Theresa May on her appointment

Podgorica, Montenegro (21 July 2016) – Prime Minister Milo Đukanović congratulated, on behalf of the Government of Montenegro and in his name, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Theresa May on her appointment and wished her success.
"You assume this responsible position in historical moment for your country and for Europe, after the democratic decision of British citizens to leave the EU. A decade ago Montenegro restored its independence through democratic referendum, regained international recognition, and thus took responsibility for its future. I strongly believe that in compliance with the decision of British citizens you and your team will succeed to provide a decent place in Europe and the world for your great nation and your great country," PM's congratulatory message reads.
PM Đukanović used the opportunity to express gratitude to the United Kingdom for the continuous bilateral and multilateral support it provides not only to Montenegro, but also to the Western Balkan countries on the path of democratic, economic and overall development.
"We particularly appreciate the contribution you gave to the progress that Montenegro achieved in European and Euro-Atlantic integration. We hope that in dynamic agenda you will take account of the immediate ratification of the Protocol on the Accession of Montenegro to NATO, which will be important not only for Montenegro, but also represent real incentive for other aspirants. Montenegro's immediate membership in NATO has very positive effect on the stability of the entire region, which will result in the strengthening of stability in the Euro-Atlantic community," Prime Minister Đukanović noted and expressed satisfaction with the development of traditionally good and friendly relations and cooperation between Montenegro and the United Kingdom at the bilateral level, which are based on mutual respect and mutual interest.
