Prime Minister Milo Đukanović awarded with Mostar Peace Charter

Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina (24 July 2016) -- Prime Minister Milo Đukanović attended last night the "Mostar does not forget its friends" manifestation, sponsored by the Centre for Peace and Multiethnic Cooperation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, where he, together with his host - Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina Denis Zvizdić, signed the Mostar Peace Charter. Director of the Centre Safet Oručević said that Đukanović and Zvizdić are founders of this special award and its first winners. The Mostar Peace Charter is awarded for contribution to building peace, stability, trust and cooperation.

The award reasoning states that Prime Minister Đukanović led Montenegro towards independence and permanently established its European path, and that his entire political engagement was dedicated to fostering good neighbourly relations.

"Friendship and cooperation is the way Prime Minister Đukanović and Montenegro have chosen as their permanent guidepost," the reasoning behind the award reads.

Montenegrin Prime Minister Milo Đukanović pointed out that he came to Mostar that does not forget its friends from Montenegro, as Montenegro does not forget its friends either, to express appreciation for the efforts of the state leadership of Bosnia and Herzegovina towards contributing to achieving common European goals.

"Every award pleases me, especially the one that enhances cooperation with neighbours, which will help us all achieve common goals," said the Prime Minister of Montenegro.

Earlier that night, prime ministers Đukanović and Zvizdić in their press statements for numerous media representatives expressed satisfaction with the relations and cooperation established between Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina, emphasising that they can serve as a role model to other countries in the region and beyond.

The topic was discussed by the two prime ministers during a working lunch Prime Minister Zvizdić hosted in honour of his Montenegrin counterpart in Blagaj, on the source of the Buna River. They also visited renowned artist Safet Zec in his graphic studio and an art colony in Počitelj, where painters from Montenegro are currently residing together with colleagues from many other countries.

"Mostar does not forget its friends" manifestation was organised on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the reconstruction of the Old Bridge, and on that occasion Jacques Chirac, Serge Brammertz, Federico Mayor, former administrators of the City, and other deserving individuals, were awarded with the "Mostar Peace Connection" prize.
