Ambassador Pejović participates in Central European Initiative meeting

New York, USA (23 September 2016) -- State Secretary – Chief Negotiator for Montenegro's Accession to EU Aleksandar Andrija Pejović participated in the ministerial meeting of the Central European Initiative today, which was held on the margins of the UN General Assembly.

The meeting participants exchanged their views on the CEI Action Plan for the next four years, agreeing that the main aim should be encouraging the process of European integration, European values and regional cooperation and strengthening of relations and cooperation with regional and international organisations, in particular the EBRD, as well as increasing activities on attracting EU funds. In this regard, priorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina as the current Chairman of this Forum were presented. It was about priorities which include strengthening of political and economic cooperation, development of infrastructure in transport and energy, and cultural events.

Ambassador Pejović noted the significant support that the CEI provides to the Western Balkans countries in the process of EU accession. In this regard, Ambassador Pejović stressed the importance of the project-oriented cooperation in the framework of this Forum, especially pointing out the benefits for the development of small and medium enterprises. He also pointed out that the total contribution of CEI to the projects and activities related to Montenegro is around EUR 4 mln. Ambassador Pejović informed the participants about the progress that Montenegro achieved on integration, with gratitude for the support of EU and NATO member states, which are in this initiative.
