DPM Lazović meets with Director of the ITU Telecommunication Development Bureau (BDT) Brahim Sanou

Podgorica, Montenegro (28 September 2016) -- Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister for Information Society and Telecommunications PhD Vujica Lazović met with the Director of the ITU Telecommunication Development Bureau (BDT) Brahim Sanou on the occasion of the National Internet Traffic Exchange Point (MIXP).

DPM Lazović stressed that the Feasibility Study of establishing a National internet traffic exchange points (MIXP) in Montenegro showed that it is an essential tool for promoting the development of the Internet services, lowering the price of the Internet, unloading links to the global access to the Internet, improving the quality of service to the Internet access and communications security, both in terms of personal data protection and network security, due to increase the efficiency of business and economy. It is important that each country has an established National Internet Traffic Exchange Point, which we managed to implement in cooperation with the University of Montenegro, i.e. the Center of Information System of the University of Montenegro, the Agency for Electronic Communications and Postal Services, Telenor and Telekom, and with the great help of the International Telecommunication Union. This way, we made a step forward towards achieving the predetermined targets, DPM Lazović said.

DPM Lazović and the Director Sanou visited the MIXP office and expressed readiness for the continuation and the improvement of cooperation between the Ministry for Information Society and Telecommunications, the University of Montenegro and the National ICT Union with the International Telecommunication Union.
