Podgorica, Montenegro (6 September 2016) – At today’s session, the Montenegrin Cabinet discussed the information regarding the conclusion of the electoral roll, which was submitted by the Ministry of the Interior. By the same token, the Cabinet unanimously decided to authorise Dragan Pejanović, Secretary of the Ministry of the Interior, to issue a decision on the conclusion of the electoral roll and submit it to the State Election Commission within 24 hours from the date of its adoption. Furthermore, the Cabinet tasked heads of regional branches of the Ministry of the Interior to carry out verification of each page excerpt from the electoral roll which have been arranged by local government units and polling stations. Ministry of the Interior was also tasked to take all necessary actions, in line with its responsibilities, to create conditions for the organisation of the elections scheduled for 16 October 2016.

While determining the session’s agenda, the Cabinet did not accept the proposal of the Minister of the Interior on the dismissal of the Chief of the Police, because requirements were not fulfilled for the Government to discuss that matter. The Prime Minister voiced willingness to, if necessary, convene a session of the Government whenever the Commission for Administrative and Personnel issues completes its part of the job.
