Prime Minister Milo Đukanović congratulates newly elected Croatian counterpart Andrej Plenković
Podgorica, Montenegro (20 October 2016) -- Prime Minister of Montenegro Milo Đukanović congatulated, on behalf of the Government and on his own behalf, Andrej Plenković on his election as the new prime minister of Croatia.
"In the year when Montenegro is celebrating the first decade, and Croatia a quarter of a century of independence, we can be satisfied with the achieved progress of our countries, as well as bilateral relations based on mutual respect and good neighbourly cooperation. I believe that the new government, headed by you, will manage to respond to the increasing number of challenges and that better days are coming for Croatia, which will have a positive effect on the stability of the entire region. We in Montenegro are particularly looking forward to it, because we are committed to integration into NATO and the EU, where Croatia is waiting for us as an respectable member," PM Đukanović states in his message of congratulations.
He thanked Croatia for the generous and continued support for Montenegro's strategic objectives, stating this is also confirmed by the Croatia's political and technical support to Montenegro in its EU accession negotiations, as well as the prospective ratification of the Protocol on the Accession of Montenegro to NATO in the Croatian Parliament.
"Montenegro and Croatia can serve as an example of good neighbourly relations, an example of how the unfortunate events of the recent past and some unresolved issues do not represent obstacles to the development of the best possible relationship and building a common future in the family of democratic countries. I look forward to meeting you and I invite you to visit Montenegro soon," Prime Minister Milo Đukanović's congratulatory message reads.
