PR ServicePodgorica, Montenegro (20 October 2016) -- Parliamentary elections in Montenegro were fair, free and democratic, and we, therefore, expect the quick formation of a new government, for which there is a needed and stable majority, said Deputy Prime Minister for Political System, Internal and Foreign Policy Duško Marković at a meeting with Director for Western Europe, Western Balkans and Turkey in the European External Action Service Angelina Eichhorst.

DPM Marković said that the work of the Governmentof electoral trust provided conditions for holding fair and free elections, despite the strong political and economic pressure from certain international addresses

Commenting on the arrest of 20 Serbian nationals suspected of forming a criminal organisation and terrorism in an attempt, as well as on temporary shut-down of the WhatsApp and Viber messaging apps, he noted that everything was done according to professional and legal regulations and standards.

The Deputy Prime Minister pointed out that there are no legal or political grounds for non-recognition of the election results. Both sides agreed that it is necessary to provide a quick and efficient institutional response to the objections to the electoral process on election day.

DPM Marković stressed that the pro-Western forces, which received the most votes in the elections, are ready for dialogue with the opposition and that the doors of the Government are open to all who share the vision of a stable, European and Euro-Atlantic Montenegro.
