Podgorica, Montenegro (21 October 2016) – Discussing actions of identifying and prosecuting persons who are reasonably suspected of forming a criminal organisation and terrorism in an attempt, the Montenegrin Cabinet, at yesterday's session, concluded that competent national authorities should bring this case to an end in a professional manner, thus protecting the state of Montenegro and its national interests.
The Prime Minister stressed that, in line with his statutory powers, he will do everything to bring this case to an end.
The Cabinet did not accept the proposal of the Interior Minister for the dismissal of the Chief of the Police. The Cabinet adopted the Commission for Human Resources and Administrative Issues' conclusion that the submitted proposal that does not contain any of the statutory grounds for dismissal.
Deputy Prime Minister Milorad Vujović, ministers Goran Danilović, Budimir Mugoša and Boris Marić, voted against the adoption of this conclusion, while Minister Raško Konjević abstained from voting.
Yesterday's session also adopted the Report on the implementation of the Government of Montenegro's programme of actions for the third quarter of 2016. It was estimated that the 80.9%-implementation for the first three quarters is great result, especially bearing in mind that it was achieved in the circumstances of the parliamentary elections. In the context of the European agenda, the Government adopted the third quarterly report on the implementation of obligations under the Programme of Montenegro's Accession to the European Union for the period 2016-2018.
The Cabinet also adopted the Rulebook Amending the Rulebook on Internal Organisation and Systematisation of the Ministry of the Interior, which created conditions for the employment of persons who have graduated from the police academy. It was pointed out that the employment of young and educated personnel contributes significantly to raising the level of professionalism and efficiency of the police in ensuring complete security of citizens and society as a whole under the highest European standards.
