Prime Minister Đukanović hosts newly appointed French Ambassador to Montenegro Christine Toudic

PR ServicePodgorica, Montenegro (21 October 2016) -- Prime Minister Milo Đukanović hosted earlier today newly appointed Ambassador of France to Montenegro Christine Toudic.

The Prime Minister, on behalf of the Government of Montenegro, and on his own behalf, wished Ambassador Toudic successful mission and expressed satisfaction with the traditional ties between the two countries, whose relations have been further enriched and modernised in recent years, representing an improved platform for mutual beneficial cooperation. He thanked the French Ambassador for the support France has provided to European and Euro-Atlantic perspective of Montenegro and the region, which is the right way to consolidate stability in the Balkans.

Regarding the recently held regular parliamentary elections, the Prime Minister pointed out that Montenegro continues its European path of full stability, stressing that the government that is going to be formed soon, will be dedicated to achieving the country's strategic foreign policy goals, as well as economic development and reforms at the national level.

Ambassador Toudic expressed satisfaction with the assumption of duty of the Ambassador of France to Montenegro. She said that the Accession Protocol on Montenegro's membership in NATO has been approved by the Council of Ministers, and that it is now waiting for the adoption in the French Parliament. She extended congratulations on the parliamentary elections that were held in a peaceful atmosphere, which, in her words, was also noted by the European Union. She is hopeful that the Parliament is going to be formed soon, as well as the Government, in order to continue cooperation in all areas of common interest. She pledged France's willingness to provide concrete assistance to Montenegro in the negotiation process with the EU, and voiced interest in greater representation of the French language in Montenegro.
