Podgorica, Montenegro (21 October 2016) -- EU Expert Mission on the prevention of corruption in particularly sensitive areas – education, will stay in Montenegro from 24 to 28 October, 2016.

Over the coming week, experts from the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland will hold a number of meetings with the representatives of the Ministry of Education, the Agency for Prevention of Corruption, the Directorate for Inspection Affairs, as well as with the members of the Working Group for Chapter 23.

The meetings will provide the direct exchange of information of the Montenegrin institutions representatives with experts on specific issues in the context of the prevention of corruption in the education sector.

The visit of experts is an opportunity for Montenegrin institutions to show the European Union and the Member States the progress in this area, both through the harmonization of national legislation with the EU Acquis, and in the part of their implementation. The exchange of opinions and experts' recommendations will serve Montenegrin authorities to achieve better results in the rule of law.

The visits of expert missions are part of a new approach in the negotiations with the EU and are a regular mechanism by which the European Commission assesses the state in Chapter 23: Judiciary and Fundamental Rights.
