PM Đukanović hosts Swedish Ambassador Jan Lundin
Podgorica, Montenegro (25 October 2016) -- Prime Minister Milo Đukanović hosted today the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden to Montenegro Jan Lundin. The Prime Minister wished success to Ambassador Lundin at the beginning of his mission, and expressed the readiness of the Government to improve bilateral relations for mutual benefit. He assessed that there is scope for further strenghtening of the political dialogue, cultural and business cooperation and cooperation in the field of foreign affairs, and thanked for the support provided to Montenegro and the countries of the region in achieving their European perspective. The Prime Minister also stressed the importance of cooperation in the field of defence and security, as well as the interest in developing partnership in the field of protection and promotion of minority rights, especially in the field of education, where the transfer of the Swedish experience and expertise would be of great importance for Montenegro.
Ambassador Lundin thanked for the reception and expressed satisfaction with the opportunity to represent Sweden in Montenegro and contribute to further strenghtening of overall bilateral cooperation. He pointed out that his country continues to support the European path of Montenegro, which wants to see as a full member of the European Union, along with all other Western Balkans countries which meet the necessary requirements. The Ambassador said that Montenegro made the visible progress so far in the field of justice and internal reformas, with the expectation to continue this trend in the future.
They exchanged views regarding the recently held regular parliamentary elections and the current events in Montenegro, as well as the importance of cooperation with Serbia in this context. Among other things, the Prime Minister stated that Montenegro remains stable on the road to European and Euro-Atlantic integration, and that is expected to form a Government soon, which will be dedicated to the implementation of foreign policy goals – membership in NATO and the EU, as well as the further implementation of reforms and intensification of economic growth in order to raise quality of life of all citizens in Montenegro.
