Montenegro's Cabinet session

Podgorica, Montenegro (28 October 2016) – The Government of Montenegro, at today's session, adopted a Second report on the implementation of commitments under the Action Plan for the gradual alignment of the EU acquis and building the necessary capacity to implement and enforce the acquis communautaire for Chapter 19 - Social policy and employment, March 2016 - September 2016. The Action plan is an initial benchmark for opening negotiations on Chapter 19, which strategically define the measures and deadlines for harmonisation of legislation and building of necessary capacities of institutions responsible for implementation and enforcement of European acquis. In accordance with the Programme of Montenegro's accession to the European Union for the period 2015-2018, explicit aim of Montenegro is to take over and implement the entire acquis in the area of social policy and employment by the end of 2018.

In order to fully comply with the EU acquis and implement the new Law on Food Safety, the Government adopted Decree on types of extraction solvents which may be used for the processing of raw materials and food, as well as Decree on the monitoring of dioxin levels in food.

Following the decision of the Council of the European Union, the Government adopted Decision on amending the Decision on the introduction of international restrictive measures established by decisions of the Council of the European Union, in relation to actions that undermine or threaten the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine. On 15 September 2016 the EU Council adopted amendment to the Decision to extend the validity of the restrictive measures until 15 March 2017. Also, the European Council changed data for individual persons, legal persons and entities against whom the restrictive measures are imposed.

At today's session, the Government adopted an Action Plan for the National Strategy to improve health care quality and patient safety in 2017 - 2018. This strategic document promotes and enhances the quality of care and patient safety, provides continuous training in line with technological advances in science and medicine, ethical and professional principles of medical profession.

The Government also adopted an Action Plan for Nutrition 2017- 2018 which sublimate the recommendations of the World Health Organization's European region in terms of nutrition and food safety. The guiding principles are improvement of health, reduction of health inequalities and improvement of public health. The proposed solutions, among other things, contain a number of activities aimed at children of school age and educational institutions.
