DPM Vujica Lazović meets with PM of China Li Keqiang

Riga, Latvia (5 November 2016) -- The Montenegrin delegation led by the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Policy and Financial System Vujica Lazović met today with the Leader of the State Council of China Li Keqiang, in the framework of the Fifth Meeting of Heads of Government of the Central and Eastern European countries and People’s Republic of China.

During a conversation with the Chinese Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister Lazović expressed satisfaction with the continuous development of bilateral relations between two friendly countries, which resulted in concrete projects. He stressed the willingness of Montenegro to continue cooperation with the Chinese motorway construction company through the realisation of the next section Mateševo-Andrijevica, on the basis of public-private partnership or other financial form that would be acceptable to both sides.

Deputy Prime Minister Lazović reiterated the expectations of Montenegro to realise the project of Bar-Belgrade railway reconstruction, through the extension of an agreed project of reconstruction and modernisation of the Budapest-Belgrade railway. He added that Montenegro sees a great opportunity for cooperation in the Joint Declaration of three seas (Adriatic, Baltic and Black) through the possibility of development the Montenegrin port of Bar and building the industrial park within it.

Prime Minister Li expressed appreciation for the cooperation projects and stressed that Chinese companies have the full Chinese government’s support to invest in Central and Eastern Europe

Beside Deputy Prime Minister Lazović, the Montenegrin delegation included Deputy Prime Minister Petar Ivanović, the Minister of Transport and Maritime Affairs Ivan Brajović, the Minister of Economy Vladimir Kavarić, an Adviser for Energy and Industrial Development to Prime Minister Ranko Milović and Ambassador of Montenegro in Latvia Ljiljana Tošković.
