PM Đukanović hosts Head of EU Delegation: We will have responsible attitude towards EC's evaluations and recommendations
Podgorica, Montenegro (9 November 2016) -- Prime Minister Milo Đukanović hosted earlier today Head of the EU Delegation to Montenegro, Ambassador Aivo Orav, who presented him the European Commission’s Montenegro Report 2016.
The Prime Minister thanked the Head of the EU Delegation to Montenegro for the European Commission’s report, noting that the Government of Montenegro, as before, will have a responsible attitude towards the Europan Commission's evaluations and recommendations for further improvement of the negotiating process and take them into account when defining the Government’s Plan of Action and Programme of Montenegro's Accession to the European Union. He pointed out that Montenegro remains committed to fulfilling its obligations under the European agenda, implementing reforms that will lead to the adoption of standards and boosting the quality of life of citizens, which will ensure further progress towards membership of the European family of nations and states. He also stressed that Montenegro's parliamentary elections proved once again the determination to maintain the country’s European and Euro-Atlantic path, which, with the support of partners, certainly leads to membership in NATO and the EU.
Head of the EU Delegation to Montenegro Aivo Orav thanked the Prime Minster for the reception and congratulated him on this year's report, which recorded Montenegro’s progress and the results achieved. He pointed out that, at the same time, the report contains precise and detailed guidance towards continuing as high-quality as possible implementation of commitments in the accession process, with an emphasis on areas where further efforts are needed in order to produce desired results. He added that Montenegro is expected to form a government soon in order to continue work in the context of the negotiation process and send a positive message, to mutual satisfaction. By the same token, he pledged the commitment of the EU Delegation to continue cooperation with the Montenegrin institutions on the road to full membership in the EU.
