Defence Minister Pejanović Đurišić meets with representatives of US Atlantic Council

PR ServicePodgorica, Montenegro (18 November 2016) – Minister of Defence Milica Pejanović Đurišić met with Executive Vice President of the Atlantic Council of the United States Damon Wilson, and a member of the Executive Committee and Board of Directors, Ambassador Robert Gelbard.

Minister Pejanović Đurišić presented the agenda of the Ministry of Defence as part of the process of joining the Alliance and stressed the readiness of Montenegro to support all Alliance's initiatives aimed at improving the security situation. The Minister emphasised that Montenegro, as a country that strongly advocates NATO's "open door" policy, will continue to support Euro-Atlantic aspirations and integration of other countries, stating that they are a prerequisite for security and peace in the region and Europe.

Representatives of the Atlantic Council Wilson and Gelbard emphasised the remarkable progress that Montenegro made in the field of Euro-Atlantic integration and stressed that Montenegro is an example of a country that has become a significant contributor to security and stability factor in the region and that, as such, makes a significant contribution to security at the global level.
