DPM Marković: Euro-Atlantic agenda will be among top priorities of new government
Podgorica, Montenegro (18 November 2016) – During the meeting with the delegation of the Atlantic Council of the United States, Deputy Prime Minister for Political System, Internal and Foreign Affairs and prime minister-designate Duško Marković said that Euro-Atlantic agenda of Montenegro will be among top priorities of the new government, whose formation is expected in the next few days. He pointed out that the new executive will also be strongly committed to improving the living standards of all citizens of Montenegro.
Representatives of the Atlantic Council, Executive Vice President Damon Wilson, member of the Executive Committee and Board of Directors, Ambassador Robert Gelbard and Associate Director for the European Union and Special Initiatives Sarah Bedenbaugh welcomed the achieved progress and noted that they will continue to provide support to Montenegro on its way to full integration into NATO and further comprehensive reforms.
DPM Marković thanked the US Atlantic Council and the US government and people for the support they provided in the NATO integration process and said that the completion of the entire process is expected in the spring next year. He expressed hope that the United States Senate will ratify the Accession Protocol by the end of this year.
The Deputy Prime Minister said that the integration process to the EU and NATO strengthens institutions, which successfully responded to the difficult challenges that Montenegro has faced in the past. He pointed out that strengthening of the institutions will continue, because it contributes to the stability which is essential for economic development.
