DPM Simović takes part in CEI summit in Sarajevo

Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina (13 December 2016) -- Summit of prime ministers of the Central European Initiative (CEI) was held in Sarajevo earlier today. Montenegro was represented by Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Policy and Financial System and Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Milutin Simović.

The meeting was organised under the Bosnia and Herzegovina’s presidency of the Central European Initiative, as the closing meeting on the eve of taking over the presidency by Belarus. The participants discussed process of European integration in the light of the migration crisis, all kinds of extremism and other current challenges, as well as the acceleration of regional infrastructure connectivity, as a prerequisite for sustainable development and the process of regional and European integration.

In the context of the current challenges faced by members of the Union and its neighbours, DPM Simović presented the progress Montenegro has made on its path towards the EU and refered to the preventive plans in the context of migration crisis, as well as the importance the country attaches to the prevention of all kinds of extremism and radicalisation.

The Deputy Prime Minister also spoke about infrastructure linking of the region, as a prerequisite for economic development and strengthening of stability and democracy. In that regard, he stressed Montenegro's commitment to the implementation of the conclusions of the summit in Paris, as well as the preparation of documentation for priority infrastructure projects and efforts to use the available grants of the Western Balkan Investment Framework in this area.

On the sidelines of the summit, DPM Simović met with Polish Minister of Infrastructure and Construction Andrzej Adamczyk. The two officials once again expressed full commitment to further deepening bilateral relations between the two countries, especially in economic terms.
