US Hoyt Brian Yee: United States pledges full support to Montenegro's NATO and EU bids
Podgorica, Montenegro (16 December 2016) -- Deputy Prime Minister Zoran Pažin hosted earlier today US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Hoyt Brian Yee.
Both sides agreed that Montenegro and the United States have a long history of excellent bilateral relations and this partnership will be continued through a series of joint activities.
Visit of Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Hoyt Brian Yee is an expression of the United States' full support for Montenegro's NATO and EU bids, the two officials stressed.
Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Hoyt Brian Yee noted that Montenegro's progress on this path should be a stimulus for further intensification of reforms, especially in the field of rule of law and building democratic institutions.
DPM Pažin underlined that the whole Montenegrin society enters the EU and NATO, not only the government or the opposition, which is why he stressed the need for all political stakeholders in Montenegro, sharing the system of European and Euro-Atlantic values, to make a contribution to the democratic accomplishment of these objectives. There is enough democratic space for doing that through dialogue that needs to take into account the fact that the Parliament of Montenegro is the most democratic forum in the country.
Construction of an open, democratic and civil society is in the interest of all the citizens. The United States pledges full support to Montenegro in that regard, Deputy Prime Minister Zoran Pazin and Mr Hoyt Brian Yee concluded.
