DPM Simović hosts US Ambassador to Montenegro Margaret Uyehara

Podgorica, Montenegro (11 January 2017) – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Milutin Simović hosted earlier today US Ambassador to Montenegro Margaret Uyehara.

DPM Simović thanked Ambassador Uyehara for the US continued support and understanding, hopeful that the continuation of integration will provide basis for further implementation of reforms and challenges both at economic political levels, with the aim of providing a framework of stability in the region, as the most important prerequisite for improving the standard of living for all the citizens.

Both sides particularly referred to the agricultural sector, recalling the numerous projects that have been implemented with support of the USAID Office, while expressing mutual readiness to continue to implement significant projects in the time to come.

Special emphasis was placed on completion of the process of joining NATO, as one of the most important foreign policy goals of Montenegro. The meeting was an opportunity to reaffirm the friendly relations between the two countries and continue dialogue on intensifying cooperation.

Noting the progress that Montenegro has made, Ambassador Uyehara voiced willingness to promote Montenegro’s investment opportunities to the US investors, with special emphasis on the north of the country. She also pledged the US support to the reform process, stressing that future joint cooperation will provide even better and more measurable results.
