PM Marković congratulates Donald Trump on becoming the 45th US President

Podgorica, Montenegro (21 January 2017) – On the occasion of assuming the office of the President of the United States, on behalf of the Government and in his own name, Prime Minister Duško Marković sent Donald Trump warmest congratulations and best wishes for the successful term.

- I am convinced that the United States under your leadership, in today's world full of security and economic challenges, will continue to play a key role as one of the leaders of the free and democratic world. Montenegro will always be reliable partner of the USA in our joint efforts to ensure long-term stability in the Western Balkans and ensure its Euro-Atlantic and European perspective. The friendship between the two countries is forged in difficult and challenging times for our region, when it was based on the principles of reliability and solid confidence, which would remain to be the foundation of our alliance in the future – PM's letter reads.

The Prime Minister expressed his satisfaction with the fact that the historic friendship and strategic partnership between the two countries is expressed the most in continued US support and help in implementing comprehensive reforms and achieving Euro-Atlantic and European aspirations of Montenegro.

- I believe this will be further confirmed by the imminent ratification of the Protocol on the Accession of Montenegro to NATO, which is in line with the message of your inaugural speech that "the United States will strengthen all its alliances". In the belief that during your term relations between Montenegro and the United States will be further improved through further strengthening of partnership and cooperation, I ask you Mr President, to accept the assurances of my highest respect – the letter reads.
