Podgorica, Montenegro (6 February 2017) – The second inter-ministerial meeting entitled “Child protection from violence and exploitation” was held earlier today in cooperation between the Government of Montenegro and UNICEF's Office in Podgorica.
Deputy Prime Minister for Political System, Interior and Foreign Policy Zoran Pažin chaired the meeting and made an opening remark by saying that the child protection from violence, abuse, neglect and all sorts of exploitation is one of the cornerstones of the cooperation between the Government of Montenegro and UNICEF.
DPM Pažin said that Montenegro has established a good legal and institutional framework in this area, adding that the country has achieved a significant progress in improving the rights of the child. However, the capacity of relevant institutions to use an integrative approach and partnerships for an effective violence prevention and child protection remains a challenge, DPM Pažin noted.
Key aspects of the future cooperation have to be agreed and well determined, particularly when it comes to the proper prevention of violence in early childhood, identification of peer violence, human resources profiling and improving the work of services dealing with children, DPM Pažin pointed out.
