Minister of Sports hosts US Ambassador

PR ServicePodgorica, Montenegro (7 February 2017) -- Minister of Sports Nikola Janović hosted today the US Ambassador Margaret Ann Uyehara, with whom he shared plans for the functioning of the newly established Ministry of Sports.

As the key activities to be addressed during the four-year term, the Minister mentioned the Sports Development Programme and Amendments to the Law on sports. He pointed out that the Ministry established the Youth Sector, which will in particular take account of the needs of the youth, adding that there are great opportunities for improvement in the area of school sports.

In addition to interest on the activities of the newly formed Ministry, the Ambassador was particularly interested in the development of strategies relating to the active involvement in sports activities of the marginalised groups, members of the Roma community, women and persons with disabilities. The Minister emphasised the existence of the Strategy, that improves continuously.

Given that one of the most important activities of the US Embassy is to develop the exchange programmes for pupils and students, the Ambassador marked sports as the easiest way to obtain scholarships to study in America. Minister Janović and the Ambassador Uyehara expressed their readiness to all forms of cooperation to further develop sports at all ages.
